SEM.MIND MAP

Did you know that the neural substrates serving the visual sense occupy 40% of the cerebral cortex?  In layman’s term, 40% of the brain’s outer layer is occupied by a layer that serves our vision. William Bradford’s research also proved that 60% of the population are visual learners . No wonder more than 350 million photos are uploaded daily on Facebook  .
It is this human capacity to process information communicated through images that inspired the development of planning and processing methods like Mind Mapping.

The Breakthrough of Mind Mapping for Businesses

Mind Mapping is the process of organizing information through a diagram. Many would say that it is an oversimplification of what Mind Mapping is and they would partially be right. Mind Mapping has already proven its many benefits but at the heart of all those benefits is the use of imagery, color and visual-spatial arrangement  to enable the brain to comprehend, process and retain ideas and information. It is the first process that utilized the natural learning process of the brain.

To many businessmen or managers, Mind Mapping’s only valuable use is in the planning stage and only for software development companies. This perception comes from how Mind Mapping allows the visual representation of how ideas or functions or requirements of a certain system produce sub ideas, sub requirements or sub functions. The limitation is unwarranted. In fact, Mind Mapping can be applied to almost every industry in the world.
Remember that Mind Mapping allows the visual organization of how an idea or objective is layered into smaller requirements in order to make the main idea or main objective possible. That idea may be a story or a new mobile application or a business organization or a new clothing line. Some businesses would revert to a detailed annotated outline. As details are put together, they just put more pages into that outline. The problems is that as more and more information are plugged into the project, it becomes harder and harder to scroll up and down just to find what you are looking for. It also becomes harder to read.
Although Mind Mapping will not get rid of the necessity of such document, it becomes the best tool for everyone to easily connect details of the project to other details and eventually to the main idea.

sem.MIND MAP

This is SEMYOU’s inspiration to develop sem.MIND MAP
Although using the whiteboard to Mind Map is convenient, it is also problematic because of the following limitations:
•    When you need to plug in another layer between two existing layers, you will have to erase everything or draw an out-of-place arrow to insert the additional detail
•    Digitizing it will require some basic Photoshop skills
•    Only after digitization will it be shared to everyone in the group
•    When the need arises to put documents, explanations, comments, questions and others each of the note, the diagram will have to be converted into a HTML or, in the worst case scenario, powerpoint
Sem.MIND MAP solves all these problems by giving you a level of flexibility no other platform can give you.

Click and Drag

Assume you are creating a diagram for a dog grooming and supplies store. You start with two major levels: Grooming and Supplies. You go on and create sub layers for both. You end up with seven layers and each layer has at least 5 sub layers. The board is full and you realize that you also want to add a pet sitting service. You will have to draw everything again to make way for the third idea.

With sem.MIND MAP, all you have to do is select the items you want to move around and drag them to the position you want it placed. You may also select multiple items and make them smaller all at once if the need be.
There are also a lot of times when you find a note actually belongs under another section. You can simply erase it if it’s a whiteboard or scratch over it if it is a big paper. With sem.MIND MAP, you can click the note and drag it to wherever you want it placed. If you aren’t sure where to put it, you can drag it to the side and go back to it once you are sure where to put it.

Color Customization

Color information complements and solidifies the compartmentalization of information. William Lidwell, in his book, How colors affect you : what science reveals, stated that colors isn’t just aesthetics. It affects how we perceive things, how we associate meanings and how we compartmentalize information.  It helps us organize, comprehend and retain concepts, ideas and details.
sem.MIND MAP has a dynamic color customization function that  allows you to put colors to a note or a group of note or change colors with a single click.
Assume you are writing a book on the difference of fashion principles of 7 countries. You want each country to represent a color. All you have to do is select the notes that belong to a country and click on the color you want to apply. You may use preset colors or customize your own.

Attaching Details to Each Note

If you want to put details on some or all of the notes, you don’t need to create an HTML or create Word documents that rely on sensitive hyperlinks. All you need is to click on the note and put the details you want. You may want to put a comment, a deadline, status, or attach documents. Everything will be visible in one page.
If you need to revisit a note, all you need to do is click and you will see the details.  Everything is one place. You don’t have to think about organizing folders in order ensure that your links are alive and files are accessible. sem.MIND MAP allows you to put all the details in one place and it will take care of the organization.

sem.MIND MAP

sem.MIND MAP isn’t just about creating an easy-to-comprehend diagram for a project. It:
•    Converts your project to an actionable plan
•    Reinforces understanding and urgency of each task or idea
•    Facilitates the clarity of concepts and connection to each other
•    Organize the pathways towards completion of the main objective or idea
